Description of room:
Big room, good local action. Lots of cheap tournaments. Staff is usually nice. Bathrooms not too far away. Great place for low-limit, particularly Omaha Hi-Lo with a kill.
Description of comps:
Get a card (from the poker room) & swipe in. They pay you a dollar an hour. You can use your comps across the room at Subway, which, incidentally, is open 24-7. Rock on. Mouse has somewhere to eat in Vegas. Fuck the $20 hamburgers on the strip. Even if I don't play there that day and get a comp, I can often be found late nights munchin' down on my turkey sub at the Orleans. And baked Doritos. Gotta have the baked Doritos.
Games offered:
4-8 Hold'em, 4-8 Omaha Hi-Lo with a half-kill, and 1-2 No Limit Hold'em. They sometimes have a 2-5 No Limit game.
Poker Room Rate:
The last time I stayed here, it was reasonable. 4 hours of play a day would get you $50 Sunday through Thursday and $85 on weekends. When I called to make a reservation for my trip this April (2007), the rates had changed to "20% off the rate given to you when you book your room through telephone reservations" (i.e., online is cheaper, so it's not 20% of that, it's 20% off of booking at full price). I decided that was way too complicated (I like simple ... just give me a number rather than making me have to separately call reservations to ask them what their full price is then calculate a percent off that), so I paid full price out at the Sun Coast instead.
Safety:
Garage is pretty safe ... right by the poker room and it's often easy to park near the door. I did, however, have my rental car swiped by a renegade sausage company van in this parking lot. Still don't have that bill settled ... but I will say that the Orleans did a lot to try to help me throw responsibility on the sausage-vending, hit-and-run bastards.
